Michigan is one of the most natural of all of the United States. More than half of Michigan consists of forests, and the state has more than ten thousand inland lakes for fishing. Of course it does tend to get especially cold in Michigan during certain parts of the year, so ice fishing is the way for many people to go. Northern pike is one of the most popular kinds of fish to find in the state. Northern pike ice fishing is a hobby among many in the state.

There are various lakes to go northern pike ice fishing in around the state of Michigan. In fact, there are many undocumented lakes around the state to go along with the biggest and smallest lakes in the state. The number of fish stocks in the area is especially high, thus making northern pike ice fishing more popular.

There are various places for northern pike ice fishing around Michigan. Munuscong Bay, which is located in Chippewa County, is one of the top places to go northern pike ice fishing. Walleye and yellow perch fish are also popular in this area. These kinds of fish, along with walleye, are also found in Drummond Island, which is also in Michigan.

There are other spots for northern pike ice fishing in Chippewa County. However, it is important to know that the types of fish that are common in lakes will differ. Northern pike is generally going to be found but other types of fish, like whitefish, will also be present.

Mackinac County, which is located on the eastern part of the state, also features places for northern pike ice fishing. The Big Manistique Lake and South Manistique Lake are popular for northern pike ice fishing.

The central part of Michigan has many places for northern pike ice fishing. The Au Train Lake, which is in Alger County, features rainbow trout along with northern pike. Munising Bay, which is also in Alger County, features Coho salmon too.

In Delta County there are more types of fish to go with the northern pike. Little Bay de Noc features whitefish, splake, burbot and walleye.

Marquette County is one of the most popular places in Michigan for northern pick ice fishing. Horseshoe Lake features yellow perch and blue gill along with northern pike. Big Shag Lake is also popular in that there are frequent spawnings of fish in the area.

The best tip for northern pike ice fishing in Michigan is to start looking for smaller lakes that can freeze quickly first while waiting for larger lakes to freeze up. It is best to follow this tip for your safety so that you do not go to a larger lake too soon.
